Land Use Commission

On June 27, 2016, the Commission received this Petition for Declaratory Order to Designate Important Agricultural Lands for approximately 20,888 acres at Makaweli, Kauaʻi, Hawaiʻi; TMK (4) 1-7-001 ( por.), (4) 1-7-001-009, (4) 1-7-005-002 (por.), (4) 1-7-005- 009 (por.), (4) 1-7-006:004 (por.), (4) 1-7-006: 005, (4) 1-7-006:006 (por.), (4) 1-8-001: 001 (por.) with a hard copy and digital file in a CD format.  The Commission tentatively plans to hear this docket on September 7, 2016 on the island of Kauaʻi.

On August 8, 2016, the Commission received comments regarding the Petition from the State Office of Planning.

On August 10, 2016, the Commission received the Department of Agriculture’s and the Kauaʻi County Planning Department’s comments to the Petition.

On August 16, 2016, the Commission received Petitioner’s response to OP, the Department of Agriculture’s and the Kauaʻi County Planning Department’s comments to the Petition.

On August 30, 2016, the Commission mailed the September 7, 2016 agenda to the Parties and the State and Kauaʻi mailing lists.  A site visit to the Petition Area was done on September 7, 2016 prior to the hearing on this docket in the afternoon of the same day.  The September 7, 2016 meeting was recessed and reconvened on September 20, 2016 at the County Civic Center where the Commission voted to grant the Petition.  The form of the order was adopted on September 23, 2016; and the order was issued on September 26, 2016.  Meeting notices and agendas were mailed on September 12 and 14, 2016.
