SP17-409 City & County of Honolulu – Dept. of Design and Construction

Status

The City and County of Honolulu, Planning Commission heard the Special Permit (“SP”) request on September 13, 2017 and issued a Decision and Order approving the request on October 6, 2017 and forwarded that recommendation to the Land Use Commission (“LUC”).  The LUC received the record of the proceedings from the County on October 25, 2017.  A hearing date on the SP has been set for November 21, 2017; check our Calendar or the Lt. Governor’s website for the meeting agenda specifics to be posted on November 14 or 15, 2017.

Background

On September 13, 2017, the City and County of Honolulu, Planning Commission heard Department of Design and Construction’s (“Petitioner”) petition requesting consideration and recommendation for approval a SP for an expansion to the existing Honouliuli Wastewater Treatment Plant (“HWWTP”).  The expansion of the HWWTP is within the State Agricultural District on lands classified by the Land Study Bureau as “A”, “B”, and “E” lands.  A Final Environmental Impact Statement (“FEIS”) was accepted by the City and County of Honolulu, Department of Environmental Services on March 28, 2017, and is included in the Special Permit filings below as Exhibit 2.
